When you blog you have to obey by a certain social responsible behaviour. Even though you’re a non-commercial publisher of information and opinions you have to exercise a great deal of credibility to gain trust and sympathy from the readers. There’s no written rules about blogging, but as people learn by their experiences a kind of best practice occur.

One thing is that you have to blog regularly. But I think quality is preferred over quantity. I would rather read a thoroughly prepared work than several superficial posts a day. When you use ree-feeds you get a number of feeds a day, and if you get multiple feeds every day from just one source it’s impossible to read them all.

Furthermore it is important to be open an honest about your opinions and what you stand for and share valuable links and knowledge and make references to show your source of inspiration.

I actually foun this blog post specifying the do’es and don’ts of blogging, where they have some really good thoughts on the subject.

I love all those new words emerged from social media sites: to google, facebooking, twitting etc.

All these social media sites have a significantly impact on our everyday life. But can Twitter be used for anything important? It seems like a quite kaotic tool who’s just a real time-consumer… But if we look at it from a company’s perspective it’s a good way for them to keep updated about their products – they can simply just make a search for their company name or product and see people’s thoughts and opinions.

It’s not just about searching for information anymore. Instead the information finds you, so Twitter is a way for people/companies to get their message out to anyone who would listen.

Twitter is a way for everybody to get heard and distribute news and commentary very fast. This is yet another step towards globalisation. As mentioned in an interview with Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter in the Guardian: “You need to zoom out a little bit more and realise that communication and the open exchange of information in general has a positive impact in the world.”

So maybe Twitter is not all evil. It can be quite useful e.g. when the election in Iran ended in riots and none of the big newspapers could get their correspondents behind the borders. But the people used Twitter to tell their stories, thus information did get out of the country.

Why blogging?

This is actually the first time I’ve tried blogging. I’m not quite sure what I think of the concept. On one hand I think web 2.0 within companies is very useful and an interesting way for companies to create awareness of their business and their values, but on the other hand I find the whole thing about ‘a personal brand’ a bit odd. Maybe it’s because I haven’t found my ‘true calling’ in life yet, and I don’t really know what I want to work with in the future. I’ve stumpled across a lot of interesting areas, and I think one day I will figure out what I want out of life. Until then I guess I just have to try out as many different things/workingmethodes/approaches as possible.

Today social media is inevitable, and you sort of need a facebook account to stay connected with your friends. Many people think it’s only a personal tool and they don’t really consider the possibility that companies look at their profile before hiering - and your ‘offline’ and ‘online’  personalities then becomes one and the same. So you have to think of what you’re doing as an ‘offline’ person because this will inevitable affect your ‘online’ personality. This is kinda scary and you could quickly get a bit paranoid…

I actually tried googling myself and there were only to posts – one from linkedin and one from my high school graduation, so I guess I’m not that visible on the internet…. yet…

So I quess I just have to blog some more, and see where it leaves me. Maybe I will find the job of my dreams (even though I don’t know what it is yet).

Welcome

Welcome to my world :o)
